Support for Children 5 +
Our Mental Health Lead will talk you through the various options available, and assign the practitioner who would be best suited to work with your child.
Occupational Therapy, Emotional Literacy, Play Therapy, ACT Therapy & Creative Expressive Arts are all options to help support your child; we specialise in supporting children and young people with low-self esteem and anxiety.
Our sessions are delivered by a qualified mental health professional with experience of working with children, within the field of mental health. Each practitioner has a protected professional title in Mental Health Nursing or Occupational therapy, with additional training in Emotional Literacy and a therapeutic model. Each practitioner is insured to deliver 1:1 sessions and work within all safeguarding and confidentiality policies.
We usually deliver 5 sessions followed by a review with a parent/school, in total we usually deliver approximately 12 sessions on a weekly basis, with at least 2 reviews; however, each child is treated and viewed as an individual .The sessions are all based around emotional literacy and CBT skills...helping children to understand emotion, thoughts and how that links with behaviour. We are not counsellors or therapists; though sessions can help children to be ready for counselling going forward. Sessions tend to be about 45 minutes, sometimes a little less if a child struggles with that length of time. Schools can also book our Community Practitioners for 1:1 support with children they feel they would like to offer
Creative Expressive Therapies
Our Creative Expressive Practitioners have a degree in Creative expressive Therapies (Creative Arts, Health and wellbeing) which is based upon the Creative Expressive Model of Sue Jennings, which forms the foundations of Creative Expressive Therapy.
The underlying philosophy of the Creative Expressive Model is that therapeutic theory combined with the arts can be of value to many people in various settings including the community and educational contexts.
The Creative Expressive model aims to build confidence, self-esteem, interaction and well being, fostering creativity and freedom of expression in a non-judgemental, safe environment; in effect working creatively with people, and thus enabling people to make their own creative mark.
This emphasis on well being and the importance of esteem seems to be paralleled by initiatives such as SEALS in education and Every Child Matters. Our Practitioners can also be booked by schools for group and one to one sessions.

ACT Therapy & Life Coaching
Individual 1:1 sessions delivered by accredited therapist and specialist mental health nurse, Nikki Webster.
Suitable for children 12+, helping them to focus on how they truly want to live their life, understand their emotions and how to problem solve and set and achieve their goals.
Play therapy is a form of therapy used primarily for children. That’s because children may not be able to process their own emotions or articulate problems to parents or other adults.
While it may look like an ordinary playtime, play therapy can be much more than that.
Our associate play therapist, Fiona, can use playtime to observe and gain insights into a child’s problems. The therapist can then help the child explore emotions and deal with unresolved trauma.
Through play, children can learn new coping mechanisms and leading to better long-term outcomes. Our Dream room is a safe and space for children to access play therapy.
