Cultivating Hope: A New Chapter for Bridge the Gap and Wilmorton Community Gardens

We are thrilled to share some updates of our newest and most exciting project. As many of you will already know, Bridge the Gap has officially partnered with YMCA Derbyshire to oversee a new plot at Wilmorton Community Gardens, embarking on a transformative journey to create a space that fosters growth, connection, and well-being for children and families.

We express our deepest gratitude to the incredible team at Mortgage Advice Bureau (MAB) and Roundpeg Outdoor Buildings for their invaluable support in making this vision a reality.

Clearing the Path for a Brighter Future

When we first saw the space it was more than obvious how much work needed to be done in order to create the space we needed, we consulted with a wonderful service user parent who gave many wonderful ideas and drew up a plan for the best use of the space - as well as giving us a lot of information around risk assessments, insurance etc. The journey ahead involves a bit of elbow grease as we work to clear our new plot at Wilmorton Community Gardens.

On Thursday 11th January a group of hardworking volunteers from Mortgage Advice Bureau, recently joined forces with us to prepare the ground for something truly special. Together with Nikki, our dedicated volunteers and MAB have done an outstanding job levelling the plot, laying the foundation for a space that will soon be filled with laughter, learning, and growth.

A Bespoke Outdoor Building Courtesy of Roundpeg Outdoor Buildings

Roundpeg Outdoor Buildings has generously donated a bespoke outdoor building for Bridge the Gap, which will be constructed right on the Wilmorton Community Gardens site. This new space will serve as a hub for one-on-one sessions and small group activities with children, all within the refreshing outdoor environment. Imagine the possibilities – from one-on-one sessions to delightful outdoor activities in a cozy seating area created by an attached pergola.

Thank you to Rpundpeg Outdoor Buildings for their generous donation.

Raising Funds for a Vital Project

Since we have embarked on this journey, it is clear that we can not complete this project without community support. Your financial input is invaluable as we aim to raise £5,000 to fund tools, equipment, insurance, volunteer training, seating for parents and children, and potentially upgrade our donated building with solar panels. We are thrilled to announce that MAB will generously match the funds raised up to £3,750, doubling the impact of your contributions.

Join Us on the Exciting Journey

We invite you to be a part of this exciting journey by supporting our crowdfunding campaign. Every donation brings us closer to creating a space where children can receive the support they need and proactively learn about well-being and emotions. Our hopes and dreams for the space is that, alongside use for 1:1 and groups, trained volunteers will be able to open the space at weekends to offer a therapeutic safe haven to children and their adults to come and feel soothed, grounded and supported.
