FEEL SAFE

Imagine a school with a mental health professional on hand every week, for staff, for children, for parents.

FEEL HOPE

For staff to have a referral pathway when they need it and for parents to have chance to offload and seek advice on how to support at home.

WHO WE ARE

Bridge the Gap Child Mental Health C.I.C. are a Derby based emotional health hub for children aged between 5 and 25 years. We want ALL children to feel that they matter, that they are loved and that they are not alone.

WHAT WE DO

We have a multi-disciplinary team who deliver high quality emotional education and long term mentoring to children to support their mental health. Sadly, statistics show that in Derby, the likelihood of a child taking their own life is significantly higher than national averages. We work closely with schools and other partners in the city to ultimately save children's lives.

Schools 1:1 Support Packages

Our Child Wellbeing Practitioners work 1:1 with children each week, offering calm, non-clinical support grounded in emotional literacy and clinically informed practice.

All practitioners are professionally trained and receive regular clinical supervision. You can read more about our safeguarding approach on our dedicated page.

If you're looking to strengthen emotional support in your school, we’d love to hear from you. .

Ongoing guidance from Bridge the Gap ensures you’re fully supported throughout. Package price: £3,000 (single-child rate: £1,547.50).

Growing Minds Programme

Delivered 1:1 over six creative, craft-based sessions, the programme helps children explore emotions and build confidence in a gentle, structured way. Ideal for those able to engage in short, focused sessions.

The package includes a pre-consultation call, weekly handouts for school staff, a certificate and grounding kit for each child, and ongoing guidance. Price: £1,700 for 6 sessions (45 minutes each) for 3 children.

Funding Support for a Student at Bridge the Gap Premises

Some schools choose to fund 1:1 support at our Derby City hub rather than in-school sessions, particularly for children experiencing difficulties such as poor attendance, bullying, friendship challenges, emotional dysregulation, additional needs, or reduced timetables.

Our hub offers a safe, neutral space where children feel secure, supported, and away from school-related pressures. With purpose-designed rooms and access to calming sensory spaces, each child is met in a way that suits their needs. A minimum 12-week commitment applies for our tailored programme. Please contact us for school pricing and availability.

Support for Parents

Bridge the Gap offers a range of parent workshops designed to build confidence in supporting children’s mental health.

Delivered in a warm, accessible style, either in person or online, our sessions create a safe, informal space where parents feel empowered, heard, and supported. Schools can fund one-off workshops, coffee mornings, or our 3-week parent empowerment programme covering anxiety, anger, and coping strategies.

We also offer sessions on topics such as self-harm, exam stress, low mood, and self-esteem, all tailored to the needs of your school community.

Online Curriculum and Learning

During the pandemic, we developed an online platform to make emotional education and mental health training more accessible for schools and families. The platform now offers over 40 schemes of work for primary and secondary pupils, plus CPD training for staff on topics like anxiety, trauma, emotional literacy, and supporting children in crisis. Schools also gain access to parent courses such as Supporting Child Mental Health and Supporting an Anxious Child.

Flexible and easy to use, the content can be delivered in classrooms, small groups, or as part of targeted interventions. Annual access starts from £500.
