Service Description

Separation Anxiety Workshop 💚 Adult & Child Workshop in Derby | Helping Children Feel Connected When Apart Helping children understand separation worries and feel connected to the people they love. Starting school, saying goodbye at the school gate, staying with someone else or spending time away from a parent or carer can bring up some big feelings. Even when children know they'll see their loved ones again, being apart can still feel difficult. Join us for a gentle, creative workshop where children and their grown-ups can explore separation anxiety together, using The Invisible String as a starting point for conversations about love, connection and reassurance. Through storytelling, creativity and practical activities, we'll help children begin to understand their worries and discover ways to feel connected when they're apart from the people they love. What will we explore? Understanding separation worries: Helping children recognise and name the feelings that can come with saying goodbye, while learning that worry and sadness are normal emotions. Feeling connected when apart: Using The Invisible String to explore how our relationships and love continue even when we aren't physically together. Gentle coping strategies: Exploring creative, practical ideas that children and their grown-ups can try when separation feels difficult. Building emotional confidence: Helping children understand that having big feelings doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them. You'll take part alongside your child in a warm, supportive environment, with opportunities to ask questions and explore ways to support them at home. This workshop may also be helpful for children experiencing grief or loss, particularly those who are finding separation from loved ones difficult. If you're unsure whether it's suitable for your child, please get in touch before booking.
