Service Description

Free Parent Webinar: An Introduction to Emotional Literacy 8th April 7:30pm - Recorded and will have 30 days to watch after LIVE delivery A gentle, practical introduction for parents - rooted in early years, relevant for all ages This 45-minute live webinar revisits the very first emotional literacy workshop I delivered back in 2016 the foundations of the work we still use today at Bridge the Gap. While the foundations are particularly suited to early years, the concepts are transferable to children of all ages, including older children and teens. There will be time at the end to ask questions and reflect on your own child. 🌈 What we’ll explore together 1. What emotional literacy really means Understanding emotions as information, not behaviour to fix Why naming feelings matters more than “calming down” How emotional literacy supports confidence, behaviour, relationships, and learning 2. What happens when emotions are stored The difference between imploding (holding feelings in) and exploding (big outward emotions) Why children don’t always have the words yet How unmet emotional needs often show up as behaviour 3. How emotions show up in the body Helping children notice physical clues (tight tummies, hot faces, fast hearts) Why this awareness comes before problem-solving How this supports regulation over time Practical ways to support emotional development at home 4. Everyday language that builds emotional literacy Simple, realistic strategies that don’t require charts or rewards How to respond in the moment when emotions feel big Creating emotional safety without “fixing” or dismissing feelings 💬 Questions & gentle discussion We’ll finish with space for: Parent questions Clarifying how this looks with your child Reassurance that you’re not “doing it wrong” 💛 Who this session is for Parents of early years children Parents of children who feel emotions deeply Parents who want to understand behaviour rather than manage it Parents who want to build emotional foundations early or reset them later No prior knowledge needed. No judgement. Just a calm, supportive introduction.
