Worry Warriors 🛡️ Children’s Anxiety and Worry Management Course in Derby | Ages 7–11 Helping children understand their worries and discover practical ways to feel less frightened by them. Does your child worry about things that might happen, ask for lots of reassurance or find it difficult to stop thinking about something that's bothering them? Worries can show up in all sorts of ways. Some children ask lots of questions, while others experience tummy aches, become upset or avoid things they would otherwise enjoy. Worry Warriors is a supportive, four-week emotional literacy programme designed to help children aged 7–11 better understand their worries and develop practical coping skills. Through creative activities, conversations and play, we'll explore what happens in our minds and bodies when we feel anxious, why worries sometimes seem so convincing, and what we can do when they begin to get in the way. What will your child explore? Understanding worries: Recognising what worry feels like and learning that anxiety is a normal human emotion. The mind–body connection: Exploring how worries can show up as tummy aches, a racing heart, tense muscles or other physical sensations. Thoughts aren't always facts: Discovering that just because our minds tell us something might happen, it doesn't mean it will. Problem-solving: Learning to recognise when a worry needs a practical solution and when it might be helpful to respond differently. Coping strategies: Trying a range of tools to help children feel less frightened by their worries and take small steps towards things that matter to them. Children will have opportunities to learn alongside others who may experience similar feelings, without any pressure to share personal worries before they're ready. Our aim isn't to make worries disappear or expect children to feel confident all the time. It's to help them understand their feelings, develop a wider range of coping skills and begin to feel more able to manage situations they find difficult.
