Welcome to Bridge the Gap, we are a C.I.C dedicated to improving the mental health of children, parents and teachers in Derby City and beyond.

We want children to form a connection with Bridge the Gap so that, should they require our support in a more reactive way, we have already begun forming a positive relationship with them. We want Bridge the Gap to be a constant in children's lives so that they can continue to access our sessions in a proactive way. Just like keeping fit physically, we need to keep emotionally fit as well.

We have lots of FREE resources so spend some time exploring the site, why not ask your child to take a look with you as well. Keep checking back, we create new resources every week and don't forget to subscribe to the mailing list too.

Emotional Literacy underpins everything we do at Bridge the Gap.

Understanding emotions and helping to nurture children's Emotional Literacy skills is an important piece of the puzzle when it comes to supporting children's long-term positive outcomes.

More children (and adults) than ever are experiencing anxiety. We help children to learn what anxiety is and that it is normal. We offer practical problem solving skills as well as coping, soothing and grounding strategies.

We have various workbooks available for purchase on our shop, offer practical and supportive workshops for parents; these help them discover ways to best support an anxious child.

We run small group programs where children have made friends, grown in confidence and boosted their self esteem.

Emotional Literacy

Emotional Literacy underpins everything we do at Bridge the Gap and in order to nurture it's development in children we need to create a culture and environment that facilitates it.

Our Emotional Literacy parent webinar is available to watch as a pre-record and we have many different free resources for both parents and children.
